Sam is a member of the board of directors of the Arizona Bluegrass Association (treasurer), Valley Academy Charter School, and Cornerstone Baptist Church (treasurer).  He is a member of the American Payroll Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Kentucky Society of CPAs and the Arizona Society of CPAs.

He enjoys Bluegrass music and is learning the 5-string banjo and guitar.   He is also an accomplished Baritone Horn player.
